What is EFT?

•Why I should learn and do EFT?

•How to do EFT.

Eft TappingWhat is EFT?

Emotional Freedom Techniques, or EFT, is a therapeutic  process  borrowing from the Chinese meridian system.  The Chinese though, using acupuncture and acupressure and other similar ancient modalities, have been mostly focused on physical ailments.

EFT, on the other hand, focuses mainly on  emotional issues, usually the underlying deeper “unseen causations” of the problem.  This, in turn, often creates lasting benefits and quick relief and healing from these physical issues.

It dramatically differs from traditional therapeutic practices often working on issues where nothing else will.

EFTEFT is an “emotion based”  noninvasive version of acupuncture without the needles.

It is basically a simple two part process:

(1) consciously  ”tune in” to targeted issues

(2)  simultaneously   activate certain meridian points on the body by tapping on them with our fingertips.

Done properly , EFT  balances the energy by breaking up and clearing blockages and disturbances in the energy system via the meridians.

This simple process has miraculously  reduced the standard therapy practices from months or years down to minutes or hours.

Even better, the basic method of EFT is very portable, FREE and learnable by most everyone.

No special education is required. Even children can do this!

It's that simple..

Why Should I Learn And Do EFT?

“EFT offers great healing benefits.”

Deepak Chopra, MD

Our bodies have an electrical makeup and nature about them

Electrical messages are constantly sent throughout your body to keep it informed of what is going on.  This energy allows us to be able to see, hear, feel, taste or smell.

The existence of electricity (energy) in the body are the electroencephalograph (EEG)  and the electrocardiograph (EKG).

The EEG records the electrical activity of the brain and the EKG records the electrical activity of the heart.

Our electrical systems are key to our physical health.  If the energy stops flowing we would perish.  No one disputes it!

Muscle TestingAround 5,000 years ago, the Chinese discovered an esoteric  system of energy circuits that run throughout the body.

These energy circuits  called meridians  are at the center of Eastern health systems and form the basis for modern day acupuncture,

Acupressure, and a large variety of other healing techniques and practices.

This energy flows through the body and is invisible to the naked eye similar to electricity that powers everyday appliances.

Although you can’t see this energy, EFT gives you amble evidence that an energy flows throughout our meridians because of the “uncanny” effects it produces

By simply tapping near or around these key points of our energy meridians you can experience some profound changes in our emotional and physical health. That’s what EFT is  about.  It is the core concept of EFT.

Western medical and science  focuses mainly on the chemical nature of the body and has not given  much attention to the subtle, but powerful, energy flows of the energy body until in very recent years.  More and more this energy system of our bodies is attracting a growing group of researchers

best eft tappingEFT’s core comes from a simple blend of Acupuncture and Mind-Body Medicine, both of which have scientific studies supporting them.

EFT’s effectiveness has been so great that leading and well established institutions such as Stanford, Harvard and other universities, clinics and hospitals have chosen to use and/or study them.

EFT is designed so you can do it yourself and come to your own conclusions.   Also the more skillful you become at EFT the better will be your results and the more thorough will be your understanding  and first hand knowledge of EFT.

One last and important concept before we get into how to do EFT..

*The core and underlying “operating system” of EFT can be simply stated in one sentence called the  “The Discovery Statement “

The Discovery Statement is key because of what it does not say

It does not say that a negative emotion is caused by the memory of a traumatic experience of the past.

This is important to understand because this “assumed connection” of traumatic memories to negative emotions is a main focus of  traditional therapy.

It is the accepted practice to treat the memory and, in the process, ask the client to re-live some emotionally painful events of the past.

EFT, on the other hand, acknowledges our past memory but embraces and focuses on the “disruption in the body’s energy system”

How To Do EFT?

In my opinion, after doing EFT for over 7 years, is that Dr. Hartmann’s variation and new protocol is the most simplistic and effective way if doing EFT

This is a great place to start!

If your new to EFT, just know that Dr. Hartmann has simplified the process and made it more

effective and  elegant.

A main difference between the new EFT protocol and Classic older version of EFT is the use of the SUE Scale which measures how we feel from -10 to +10.   This is brilliant!

This simple scale allows us to ramp up the “good” feelings after we’ve neutralized the negative energy disturbance (issue) that we’re working with.

Classic EFT, on the other hand, only “neutralizes”.

Dr. Hartmann has also created the “Heart & Soul EFT Protocol” which is  basically a “light structure” in the EFT process that keeps us connected and centered.

Please refer to the Resource Page if you have any questions or problems.

After the doing the ”Heart Center” we will tap on 14 meridian points on the body  for two rounds.  The first round we will be saying the “issue” while tapping lightly, and then take a deep breath.  This will take place on each on the 14 points and then close with the  “Heart Center” again.

Our goal with the first round (or more if needed) is to get the issue (its charge) down to zero on a scale of “zero to 10″

The second round open and closes exactly the same with the “Heart Center”, but this time on each on the tapping points, we will say “Gold” and then the “issue” and then a deep breathe through all of the 14 points.

(You should check that “GOLD” is a registering a 10 on the Sue scale. For most people it is, and if not, you can tap on it separately  to bring it up to a 10)

Tapping the issue with GOLD together will ramp the good feeling up.  Again this may seem a little confusing at first, but I assure you it’s very  simple.

Please see the Resource Page if you have questions.

Let’s begin!

Use the “Sue scale” to measure the “charge” of your issue.  The first round, or more if needed, our goal is to get the charge to zero.  That is our first goal. Keep measuring this after each round of tapping.  Using muscle testing is my preferred method for measuring the emotional charge of an issue.

The Heart Center. This is where we will start and finish each round of EFT by placing both hands flat on the center of the chest (Heart Healing Position) and take three deep breaths in and out.  Here we connect and get centered.

Then start:

1.)  Top Of The Head.   The highest point on the top of your head.  Tap here lightly for several seconds thinking about your issue/problem/situation.  You can say it out loud or to your self.  Take a deep breath. Taking a deep breath applies at each tapping point before moving to the next one.  Breath moves energy.

2.) Third Eye Point.   In the center of the forehead (location of 3rd eye)….think about issue….deep breath..

3.)  Start Of The Eyebrow.   Tap where the bone behind your eyebrow turns into the bridge of your nose…

4.)  Corner Of The Eye.   On the bone in the corner of your eye.

5.)  Under The Eye.  On the bone just below your eye, in line with your pupil if you look straight ahead.

6.)  Under The Nose.   Between you nose and your upper lip.

7.)  Under The Mouth.   In the indentation between your chin and your lower lip.

8.)  Under The Collarbone.

9.)  Thumb – all finger points are on the side of the finger.

10.)  Index Finger..”    “

11.)  Middle Finger..

12.)  Ring Finger

13.)  Little Finger

14.)  Karate Chop Point   (all finger points on side of palm)…..

•Congratulations!  That’s one round.  Test the charge.  Is it zero?  If not repeat.  If so, ramp up the goal feelings using GOLD (above instructions)

•Don’t worry  if you unsure you did it right.  Energy work is very forgiving.  Just keep trying to learn more and more as you keep doing it.

You probably feel really good right now if you did a round

That’s it for the quick start.  Be sure to check out the resource page  and the blog for more information
